Program Information

The Kessler Scholars Program brings together a community of students who are committed to supporting one another, growing as leaders, and fostering positive social change in their communities.

As a Scholar, you’ll build meaningful relationships, develop your leadership skills, and receive academic, personal, and social support throughout your time at Brown.

Program Components

Advising and Mentorship

You’ll meet regularly with Kessler Scholars staff for one-on-one advising focused on your goals, values, and overall well-being. These sessions are a space for guidance, reflection, personal development and support.

Cohort-Based Programming

You’ll participate in regular cohort gatherings where you’ll build close relationships, explore topics like navigating college and identity, and learn about tools and resources to help you thrive at Brown. 

Leadership and Engagement Opportunities

You’ll have opportunities to enhance your learning and success through leadership development, campus involvement, and exploring experiences that align with your interests and goals.

Program Offerings

As a Kessler Scholar, you will:

  • Build a strong support system of peers and staff
  • Grow your confidence, self-awareness, and leadership skills
  • Connect with experiences that support your academic and career goals
  • Learn how to navigate campus resources and opportunities
  • Receive dedicated advising and mentorship
  • Receive funding for one summer SPRINT experience (for eligible research or internships)
  • Receive an annual academic year stipend for completing program requirements

Program Commitment

Being a Kessler Scholar means showing up for your community and staying engaged in the program.

Kessler Scholars are expected to:

  • Attend regular cohort gatherings throughout the academic year
  • Meet consistently with program staff and peer mentors
  • Participate in the Kessler Scholars Early Welcome Series
  • Engage with U-FLi Center programs and events
  • Take part in at least one leadership experience each year
  • Complete end-of-semester reflections and feedback

During your first two years, the program includes more regular gatherings and structured engagement to help you build a strong foundation and connection with your cohort.
