  • Julio Reyes

    Julio Reyes

    Julio Reyes (`12 MA `22 ) is the inaugural Director for the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income (U-FLi) Student Center and works closely with the campus departments to provide holistic, co-curricular, and community support for U-FLi students that enables them to thrive inside and outside of the classroom. He has professional experience in student advocacy, program development, and social justice training. Julio previously worked at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he was a campus leader in three key roles: Program Director for Undocumented Student Initiatives, Assistant Director of Student Outreach and Success, and Latinx Student Life Coordinator for the Multicultural Resource Center. As an undergraduate student at Brown, Julio was a student leader and activist at the Brown Center for Students of Color (then Third World Center). Julio was born in Los Angeles, CA and raised in El Paso, TX and Hialeah, FL.

  • Jay Salcedo

    Jay Salcedo

    Kessler Scholars Program Manager, U-FLi Center

    Jay Salcedo is the Kessler Scholars Program Manager for the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income (U-FLi) Student Center and works closely with first and second year U-FLi students to support their transition from high school to college. In her role, Jay provides strengths-based advising, reflection-based programming, resource engagement, and a community building space for Kessler Scholars at Brown. Jay has spent most of her life and career within community and educational spaces, where she has served as a youth worker and social justice educator. Jay was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and has lived in Providence, RI for over ten years. She has obtained a Master’s Degree in Youth Development from Rhode Island College and is a mother to 6-year old, Kairo.

Learn More About the U-FLi Center

Groups and organizations for community, resources and support during your time a Brown.
The U-FLi Center was founded in the fall of 2016 at Brown University. The center serves as a communal, learning, and advocacy hub for members of the Brown community who identify with the experiences of being undocumented, first-generation college students, or coming from low-income backgrounds.
